High or fluctuating water pressure quietly destroys fixtures, appliances and pipe joints. It's a cheap fix that prevents expensive ones.
Residential water pressure should sit around 50 to 70 PSI. Much above 80 and you're shortening the life of every fixture, hose, valve and appliance in the house — and many manufacturer warranties are void above that threshold.
High pressure is one of the quieter causes of expensive damage. It doesn't announce itself the way a leak does; it just makes everything fail earlier than it should.
We test the actual pressure at a hose bib first — takes a minute and tells us whether there's a problem at all. If the regulator has failed, we replace it. If your house never had one and pressure is high, we install one.
